What is Oddfellowship? The Three Link Fraternity

The name itself signifies something different or out of the ordinary. And, it is ODD, because it endeavors to enlighten the mind without taking privileges.  It conforms to Law, Religion, and sound Morality without usurping the rights of the rights of the church or that of the courts.  It creates a brotherhood and sisterhood and not a division among men and women.  It presents life in all its fullness, through degrees, so linked together that each one receiving the degrees may broaden his or her mind and elevate his or her character.

50,000 Views in Two Years!

A little over two years ago, two Odd Fellows who were Facebook friends were discussing the lack of new Odd Fellow content online.   So we cooked up a crazy idea of starting a blog together.   We had no idea where we would go with it or if anyone would bother to read it, but it was worth a shot.  So here we are two years later!  Not wanting to toot our own horn and we know we aren’t the biggest blog in the world but all expectations were blown away. 50,000 views is a lot more than we ever expected to get.

The Millenial Generation: Seeking The “Authentic” by Todd E. Creason

You see, Freemasons and Odd Fellows alike aren’t exactly sure what to make of the millennial generation.  We don’t think they’re interested in what we have to offer.  We believe they’d find our ritual too “old fashioned” and view our values as a relic left over from the long-forgotten past.  But that’s not true at all.  Ainslie said the millennial generation is searching for authenticity.  They are seeking authentic experiences–something far more real than posting a photo on social media and seeing how many people “like” it.

The Odd Fellows and Freemasons: Different Paths to the Same Goal

That’s what I wanted to introduce into our meetings at Homer Lodge—some deeper discussion into the self-improvement aspects of Freemasonry, the history, the esoteric teachings, and the symbolism found in our ritual traditions.

It occurred to me while I was scheduling speakers and topics for discussion, that there might be lessons the Odd Fellows and the Freemasons could learn from each other.
